Recently, the kick-off meeting of the National Key R&D Program "Renewable Energy Technology" key special project "Medium and Low Temperature Geothermal Maglev Power Generation Technology" was held in Beijing. The project is jointly undertaken by Beijing Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University and Zhejiang Boxu New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., bringing together the advantages of all parties, and is committed to overcoming the key technical problems in the field of medium and low temperature geothermal maglev power generation.

The project team is in a leading position in China in terms of medium and low temperature thermal ORC power generation technology, thermal and physical property measurement of new environmentally friendly working fluids, aerodynamic design of turbomachinery and research and development of magnetic levitation turbine power generation machine. The team has the first set of certification and core independent intellectual property rights of the maglev ORC power generation system in China, and has received continuous funding from a number of national projects in related fields, including the National Natural Science Key Project "Basic Research on the Efficient Utilization of Non-azeotropic Working Fluid Rankine Cycle in Medium and Low Temperature Thermal Energy", the offshore project "Research on the Working Mechanism of Organic Rankine Cycle Coupling between Marine Diesel Engine and Non-azeotropic Working Fluid", and the major project of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology "Research on the Theory and Method of Gas-Thermal Coupling Design of Long-life Turbine Blades". His research results have won the first prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of China Energy Group, the first prize of China Electric Power Science and Technology Progress Award, and the top academic papers of China's excellent science and technology journals.

The project will rely on a number of national/provincial scientific research platforms such as the National Key Laboratory of New Power System Operation and Control, the National Engineering Research Center for Gas Turbine and Coal Gasification Combined Cycle, etc., and the rich scientific research resources and conditions in place provide a solid foundation for the smooth progress of the project.
